Lucky for me I found another pattern for this Estelle Frill Seeker Yarn…perfect I thought, since I had knit scarfs with this yarn before…

I have to be honest though I am not sure I like the scarf  very much. For me it has too much big ruffles around my neck…

However this pillow looks fabulous since the ruffles are not right around my face….This one I am giving to  Sheila my friend, hope you will enjoy it as much as I had fun knitting it…Thank You!

The yarn is hand dyed it knits like butter on your needles, stunning colours that are just so lightly variegated one has a hard time not liking this yarn…loved every minute of knitting this gorgeous baby blanket for Unwind Yarn House there you can see the sample and the yarn is available for you buy too.

We decided to only use 4 skeins to make it easy affordable for any budget.  The original pattern ask for 8 different colours.  Very nice too..but as you can see it can be knit with just 4 skeins too and still have a little tiny bit of yarn left.

If knit with 8 colours you probably have enough to make two blankets or some baby mitts with hat or scarf…so have fun knitting it for your baby or as a gift. You will need a 4mm circular needles too

Das Garn ist handgefärbt es strickt sich wie Butter auf Nadeln, atemberaubenden Farben, die auch nur leicht meliert sind

 Sicher geht es Dir auch so wie mir: unmögen dieses Garn nicht zu Lieben…  jede Minute gestrickt mit dieser Wolle is ein Traum. Diese wunderschöne Baby-Decke kanst Du  bei  Unwind Yarn House als Muster sehen. Auch die Wolle  gibt es dort zu kaufen. 

Das orginal Muster verlangt nach 8 verschiedenen Farben so 8 Strangen Wolle. Doch wir haben es mit nur 4 Farben wie Kneueln hergestellt….Auch sehr nett.  Etwas günstiger mit nur 4 Kneueln und haben noch ein ganz kleines bisschen Garn übrig. dazu braucht man auch eine 4mm Rundstrick Nadel.

Mit 8 Farben habt Ihr wahrscheinlich genug, um zwei Decken oder Baby-Fäustlinge mit Hut oder Schal stricken zu können …so viel Spass dabei 

I have this wonderful Phalaenopsis Orchid just above my kitchen sink in a north facing kitchen window.  This flower is doing so well for several years….so well that now it started to grow several air roots and two new leaves on an old flower spike from the mother plant.  To my wonders for the past week it also has been growing a new flower spike from that area….what do I do now is my question.  There are no ground roots that I could separate it from the mother plant and I wonder if that single old flower spike is strong enough to support a new plant….any ideas???

An alle Orchideen-Züchter 

Seit einigen Jahren habe ich diese wunderbare Phalaenopsis Orchidee und blüht immer  für bis zu 6 Monate . Diese Orchide habe ich im  Küchenfenster  das  Nördlich liegt. Unter dem Fenster ist auch mein Küchen  Spülbecken,  so bekommt die Orchide viel Feuchtigkeit.

So seit einigen Monaten nun hat diese Orchide jetzt  mehrere Luftwurzeln und zwei neue Blätter auf einem alten Blütenstengel von der Mutterpflanze aus.  

Zu meinem Erstaunen nun wachst seit  der letzten Woche  auch noch einen neuen Bumen Stengel von der gleichen neuen Planze. Was soll ich jetzt tun, ist meine Frage.  Da keine Grundwurzeln davon wachsen  bin ich nicht sicher ob ich dies neue Orchide verplanzen kann. Auch bin ich nicht sicher ob die Mutter Planze das Gewicht von der neuen Orchide halten kann…..???

In my last post I told you about this short Vest that is knit with the same pattern as the long Vest.  I just shorten the upper body as well as the lower part to make it shorter.

For the yarn I used “Diamond Yarn Luxury Collection Baby Alpaca Sport” that I had in my stash in a lovely orange brown colour a total of 6 skeins,  giving me about 654 yards or 598 meters to knit. This yarn is sooo fluffy and soft….perfect to snuggle up in and keep me warm.

In meinem letzten Beitrag habe ich von einer  kurze Weste geschrieben, die ich mit dem gleichen Muster wie die lange Weste gestrickt hatte. Ich habe nur  den Oberkörper verkürzen  als auch der untere Teil.

Für das Garn habe ich “Diamond Yarn Luxury Collection Baby Alpaca Sport”, dass ich in meiner Collection hatte benutzt. Ein sehr schönes orange-braun und insgesamt 6 Stränge, mir  598 Meter zum stricken. Dieses Garn ist sooo flauschig und weich …. perfekt zum Kuscheln und mich warm zu halten….

As you can imagine I have been buys knitting even during this last view weeks and I have been neglecting to post some of my knitting.

 This Long Vest I actually knit up almost 6 weeks ago for a store in Unionville about 30 minutes from my home, called “Mary’s Yarns”. Also a very nice store…with nice yarns too. 

This pattern is not a free pattern and can be bought at their store as well as the yarn.

The yarn we used for this vest is  ”Sadness Garn Alfa” we used 14 skeins (about 910 yards or 832 meters) and a needle 7mm and 9mm

Wonderfully and soft is this yarn…keep in mind this garment will stretch out in length. I is a loose knit and will easily lengthen. So I would recommend to measure while you hanging it and not when flat on table!

I would say that this one is a little to long for me in on the top but would look great on a taller person.

I will later show you the same pattern in a short vest that I knit for myself with a different yarn from Unwind Yarn House, also very nice

Ich hoffe Ihr hattet alle eine wunderbaren Weihnachts Zeit

und einen guten Start ins neue Jahr.

Wie Ihr Euch sicher vorstellen könnt, hatten meine Stricknadeln keine Pause gemacht über diese Zeit.

   Diese Lange Weste habe ich eigentlich for 6 Wochen schon  fertig gestrickt für ein Geschäft in Unionville ca. 30 Minuten von meinem Zuhause entfernt, genannt “Mary’s Yarns”.  Auch ein sehr schönes Geschäft … mit schönen Garnen.

Dieses Muster ist nicht eine Gratis- Muster und kann in dem Laden sowie das Garn gekauft werden.

Das Garn das wir für diese Weste verwendet haben ist “Sadness Garn Alfa” Wir haben 14 Stränge (ca. 832 Meter) und eine Nadelgrösse von  7mm und 9mm.

Wunderbar und weich ist dieses Garn … denk aber daran, dieses Kleidungsstück dehnt sich  in der Länge.  Da mit grossen Nadeln gestrickt wird ist es eine sehr lose Jacke. So würde ich empfehlen, diese hängend zu messen und nicht flach auf dem Tisch!

So wie ich sehe ist diese Weste ein wenig zu lang im Oberteil für mich ist, aber würde auf eine groß Person ideal in der länge ist.

 Später zeige ich dann die gleichen Weste nur kürzer, die ich für mich mit einem anderen Garn von Unwind Yarn House gestrickt hatte, aber  auch sehr schön.

This pattern does not indicate what the preferred cast-on method is. I tried the short tail cast on, way to lose.  Then the cable cast-on, knit cast-on and lastly  the long tail cast-on that I learned in school ohhh way so long ago. 

But with a giant 12mm needle even that long tail cast-on was wobbly. Now going  down in needle size to a 8mm but ONLY FOR THE CAST-ON! Then I switched back to 12mm needle…sooo much better and the edge is just perfect now. Knitting the cowl with 12mm needles to the last row.  I switched back to 8mm needles again for the casting off….Soaking it and heavily stretching and blocking with pins…..PERFECT 

Ready to go to Unwind Yarn House…voila even Wendy liked it this time….hew!!!

 

 

Konzentrieren muss man hier bei diesem Muster schon …

 Wenn Du die Herringbone Masche nicht richting strickst , wirst Du das im  Muster  später sehen! Aber lasse Dich  nicht abschrecken disen Cowl zu Stricken… es ist einen Versuch wert. Der wird Dir sicher auch gut gefallen, garantiert.

Die Wolle ”Timothy Street” ich glaube es ist sogar  100% Merino Wolle, eigenes Garn von  ”Unwind Yarn House” und ganz neu im Geschäft. Diese Wolle kann man auch im Schonwaschgang waschen.

Aber mit einer gigantischen 12mm Nadel auch der Anschlag mit dem langen Faden war viel zu weit. Nun hinunter in Nadel Grösse zu einem 8mm aber nur für den ANSCHLAGE ! Dann wechselte ich wieder auf 12mm Nadel … sooo viel besser und der Rand ist perfekt jetzt. Weiter geht es dann mit 12mm Nadeln bis zur letzte Reihe. Ich wechselte wieder zu 8mm Nadeln wieder nur für den Abschlag ….Nun wird er nass gemacht und starck gezogen und mit Nadeln fest geblocked…. PERFECT!

So weiter geht der Cowl nun zu “Unwind Yarn House” … voila auch Wendy gefiel es diesmal …. hew!

I have never spun before and do not even know where I should start with this big bag…looks like a lot of fun though? But please can anyone give me any idea if I have to wash this again or is my next step to comb it and then spin it???  You can see in the picture it has some wood and straw still in the fibres. Please, anyone that can help me or give my suggestions on what my next step should be would be wonderful….THANKS

Ich habe noch nie Wolle gesponnen und habe keine Ahnung wass ich nun damit tun muss … sieht aus wie eine Menge Spaß, oder?  Aber bitte kann mir jemand dabei Helfen wie es weiter geht damit.

 Muss das jetzt noch einmal gewaschen  werden oder ist mein nächster Schritt zu kämmen und dann zu spinnen?  Du kannst auf dem Bild sehen dass es einiges von Holzsplinter und Stroh noch in den Fasern hat. Bitte, wenn  jemand mir helfen kann oder Vorschläge hat, was mein nächster Schritt sein soll…. jetzt schon …. HERZLICHEN DANKE.

So here is my scarf that was sent off to Unwind Yarn House againnnnn….I am waiting for this yarn to show up at the store so I can knit one for guess…ME too. Pattern is called “Simple Gift” by Susan Pandorf. The yarn is NEW “Timothy Street” to  Unwind Yarn House and only from there available…YEH I got to knit with it …..

Es ist kühler jetzt … aber schaut  Heute haben wir 15 Grad … und das im November … doch die Kälte burrrrr…  ist gleich um die Ecke.

So beginnen wir  mit dem Stricken, ja genau  meine Damen und Herren ,Weihnachten ist auch schon vor der Tür…. so lassen wir die Stricknadeln arbeiten …. bitte nicht klagen wir stricken zu viel… handgemachte Geschenke sind sooo beliebt in diesem Jahr  …. Also hier ist mein Schal, doch auch schon weg ist er beim  Unwind Yarn Haus againnnnn… Ich warte doch auf dieses Garn, damit auch ich so ein Schal habe ja genau für mich selber. Muster heißt ”Simple Gift” von Susan Pandorf. Das Garn ist neu und nur bei UnwindYarn Haus  zu kaufen…

This yarn is not the most inexpensive yarn to knit a blanket with. But looks very nice and I am sure it will keep one of us warm and cozy this winter. I knit  20 squares in total and used 16 skeins = 1760.0 yards (1609.3m). the pattern :http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lizard-ridge

A blanket like this could have a lot of great memories especially if you buy the yarn one by one if you go on trips all over and stop in at a yarn store in the area…just get one or two skeins at that time…you will remember the time you bought the yarn and voila a memory is created….have fun with yours.

Ich glaubte nicht dass ich je so eine  Decke mit einem Garn Typ ”Noro Silk Garden” strickt würde. Doch schaut die Farben an und das Muster perfect dafür
(Normalerweise benutze ich  meine übrigen Strangen für Decken)

Dieses Garn ist eigendlich schon etwas höch im Preis für so eine Decke zu stricken. Aber sieht sehr schön aus und ich bin sicher, es wird jemanden von uns warm und gemütlich halten diesen Winter. Ich strickte insgesamt  20 Quadrate  und verwendete 16 Stränge = 1760.0 yards (1609.3m)).

Eine Decke, wie könnte dies eine Menge großartiger Erinnerungen haben…vor allem wenn man das Garn auf Reisen kaufen kann. So, eine Strange hier und eine Strange da wieder einmal …sicher wirst Du Dich dann an den Ort erinner wo Du die Wolle gekauft hast.  Voila eine Erinnerung and dir Reise…. viel Spaß mit dem Stricken der Decke.

Yes they are fun to knit but also they are perfect for this cold season.  Look at the one I just finished, I could say hot of the press….no wait hot of me needles would be better.

This yarn from Madelinetosh Tosh DK  is super soft and just slightly uneven with the colours.  So it gives this cowl (almost wrote “Scarf”) a unique fun colour tone.  Super easy and fast to knit and it is all in the rounds with needle size US 8 – 5.0 mm and only 2 skeins (about 450 yards or 411 meters)so great for TV knitting if you like.

 So simple and easy to knit. 

 I had accumulated quiet a lot of left over yarns in the past and thought this was a great pattern and used up a lot of my yarn too…..well most of it.

  I had so much fun with all the colours and yarn mixing it up as I knit them.  It all worked out great in reg to yarn amounts, colours and the type of yarn….

I am sure I will knit some more shortly for some gifts

So in der letzten Zeit hatte ich einige Hüte gestrickt. So dachte ich es wäre an der Zeit jetzt auch etwas Fingerlose Handschuhe zu stricken.

 Mir gefällt dieses Muster sehr  ” Maine Morgen Mitts” von Clara Parkes.

So einfach und leicht zu stricken.

 Ich hatte ja etliches  übriges  Garn in der letzten Zeit angesammelt und dachte, das wär eine tolles Muster für diese Wolle ….. so verstrickte ich das Meiste davon.

 Ich hatte so viel Spaß mit all den Farben und Garnen zumischen, wie es gerade so kam. Alles klappte hervorragend ;die Garn Mengen, Farben und die Art des Garns ….

 Ich bin sicher, ich werde noch mehr in Kürze für ein paar Geschenke stricken

Ich durfte wieder etwas für Unwind yarn House stricken…..wir sind schön warm für die kalten Tage….was denks Du dazu?  So viele Muster und Garne zum stricken….welches sollen wir anfangen?  Ok, hier sind ein paar zum ansehen….

I had knit this cardigan  almost 2 months ago and time seems to fly by like….

 I have  alter a little tiny bit. 

A TopDown Knitting Pattern

 Mine is slightly longer and then I added a lot more stitches to the front band so it would slightly ruffel…was not sure if I would add the sleeves at first too…but then in the ende I decided that I like to hae sleeves on this one for now…perhaps the next on will be with no sleeves.  Simple and easy to follow pattern and the yarn to die for but the I love all the yarn from Americo Original…

Using a size 5mm needle and 3 skeins of Americo Original 100% Pima Cotton Flame was just perfect for this cardigan…so light and airy knits up like a breeze too…

 Aber dann am Ende entschied ich mich, dass ich doch  Ärmel dazu haben will … vielleicht der Nächste wird ohne Ärmel werden. Einfach und leicht ist das Muster zu stricken und das Garn ein Traum. doch dieses Garn von Americo Original gefält mir sowie so gut….Mit einer  Nadel Größe von 5mm und 3 Stränge von Americo Original 100% Pima Cotton Flamme …einfach perfekt für diese Jacke … so leicht und lufting, Strickt sich  wie ein Beeze …

 A walk by  Scanlon Creek Conservation Area …just amazing how warm the weather was.  The girls had as much fun as my husband and I had taking a stroll though the amazing colours. 

I was on the look out for some nice pictures of mushrooms…well see for yourself what I have found…..

Wie schön das letzte Wochenende war, bei uns war “Ernte Dank Fest“.

  So ein Spaziergang in Scanlon Creek Conservation Area … einfach unglaublich, wie warm das Wetter war. Die Mädchen hatten es auch genossen Zeit zum plaudern zu haben.  So wie wir auch, mein Mann und ich hatten den Spaziergang auch genossen. Die Farben warnen wie jeden Herbst estaundlich schön. 

Ich war auf der Suche nach ein paar schöne Bilder von Pilzen … doch schau dir die Bilder damit es auch sehen kannst…..
